Case: visual index of work for film production

Longshot Features is a sophisticated website Driftime built for Joe Talbot, director of The Last Black Man in San Francisco. The website serves as a visual index of their projects: each is represented with an animated illustration that moves on-scroll, creating a navigable timeline. “We worked with Mattis Dovier, a Parisian illustrator, who created gif animations that we placed between other widgets. All illustrations are clickable, because that's how visitors get around—click any character, and it will take you to a certain page giving you more information,” Abb-d says.

Longshot Features is probably the most complex project we've done on Readymag. The client, a director himself, wanted something very unique and interesting, quite different from a conventional web page . The website comes with numerous animations, interactivity, horizontal scrolling, and story-driven narrative. He wanted it to be animated and interactive, and interesting, and story-driven. All the things that give most designers and developers a headache. —Abb-d Choudhury, co-founder of Driftime

Abb-d Choudhury’s favorite Readymag features:

Animations:
I guess it is one of the most used. Even on a basic level we tend to apply subtle animations for everything to boost user experience.

Grids:
They’re very flexible, so it’s easy to shape the grid exactly how you want. With other options, you have to load the grid and then it’s fixed, stuck in one shape, or you have to start a completely new project. There are convoluted ways to sort it out, but Readymag helps make grid alignment quick and effortless.

Scale Layout:
Provides some flexibility around layout design and presentation tackling things in different ways beyond the conventional layout.
