transforms historical fragments into bold, contemporary works of art

In Ancient Artifacts, sculptor Lila Montgomery

transforms historical fragments into bold, contemporary works of art. Inspired by a fascination for archaeology and ancient architecture, Montgomery’s sculptures evoke the essence of lost civilizations while challenging traditional forms.

Each piece in the exhibition is a reinterpretation

of timeless artifacts, merging organic textures with modern abstraction. Influenced by Picasso’s avant-garde spirit, Lila explores the intersection of history and creativity, offering viewers a fresh perspective on relics of the past.

② Echoes of Empires

These sculptures not only symbolize the people and gods of past civilizations, but also invite contemplation on the transience of power, memory, and cultural identity, offering a modern tribute to the legacies they left behind.

Lila Montgomery

New Zealand-born sculptor, now based in Arizona

Lila channels her passion

for ancient architecture and archaeology into her striking, tactile works

Her sculptures are heavily influenced by the grandeur of historical ruins and the timelessness of ancient artifacts, merged with modernist abstraction.

Drawing inspiration from her love of Pablo Picasso, Lila blends bold, geometric forms with the textures and shapes of antiquity, creating pieces that evoke a sense of history while pushing contemporary boundaries.

All of Lila's works bring

the imaginary into the physical world — they exist on the boundary between the real and the created

Lila’s exhibitions, like “Plastic World”, further explore this intersection, blending elements of reality with the fantastical. These works challenge the viewer’s perception, creating immersive experiences where the boundaries between the tangible and the imagined blur, transporting audiences to otherworldly realms.
