The future partners met in the late 90s when Gert interviewed Jop about Re-Magazine. By that time, Gert had worked for Nieuwe Revu magazine, had been a culture critic for left-leaning Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant and eventually became the editor-in-chief of Dutch cultural and lifestyle magazine Blvd. Jonkers ended up hiring van Bennekom as an art director for Blvd.
