Originally from Estonia, I’m a New York based interaction designer with a background in architecture. My career spans over 17 years in the industry building a variety of products, digital experiences, and brands, as well as simply having fun and engaging with things people love to use. For over 8 years, I served as a creative director at Fantasy Interactive, living in Stockholm, Sweden and New York City. For the past 6 years, I’ve been creating things at the Anton & Irene studio I co-founded in Brooklyn. I’ve spoken at over 50 conferences around the world. I also teach on a regular basis at Harbour Space university in Barcelona, Spain.

I am a San Francisco-based multidisciplinary designer and art direсtor. I studied digital art and design at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow (2013). Designing fonts began as a hobby of me, but eventually I dug deeper and became more involved in the field. Currently, I work as a lead designer and art director for startups. My work has been honored at D&AD and awwwards. My typefaces include Health Goth, Sanity, Sangha Kali and the Latin version of Twelkmeyer.

(fighting the fear of a blank page)

Changing my work priorities helps me: from the design itself, I shift to the context around the design. This may include work to prepare material objects, laying out presentations, research into similar products. All this helps me orient and build to a point where design choices become clear.

(having fun)

I love Tabata, because it includes four-minute intense workouts. They warm me up quickly, act as a boost and whip me into shape. In a short time I achieve visible results, which is the most important thing for me. Also, I can always find four minutes of spare time and bring a Tabata workout into my schedule, even if it’s very busy. For this reason, doing knee bends for two hours in the gym is not really my thing.

When it comes to work, I think the best way to relax is changing tasks. Do things that demand different types of skills and apply to different perception channels. For instance, when I get tired of design, which applies to my visual channel, I prefer to have a work call, which applies to my hearing.
