Every December, we look back at the previous 12 months and select the best projects made with Readymag. It’s never easy for us to agree on the nominees to run in the Projects of the Year contest. Yet, in 2020 we think we’ve picked the strongest line-up in years. Perhaps ever.


This time, proficient Readymag designers we call R/masters helped our team finalize the shortlist. Projects that accumulated most votes from them have a special badge ‘R/masters’ choice’.


Public voting closed on December 21, find the winners below. To support their talent and creative vision in the new year, each of them is awarded a free subscription for a yearly Professional plan.

R/masters’ choice

An entertaining and deep exploration of the interface as a concept. Sly “1980s black-and-green computer”-style design adds a thought-provoking level of visual complexity.

Expressiveness can be achieved without color: the combination of bold black fonts and shapes on a white background is especially impactful in this project.

Aerocene Ecosystem

This is how trendy, futuristic research looks in 2020: oversized grotesque font, simple layout, with bright, basic colors and simple geometric shapes polish up the overall look.

A vivid and colourful dive into the phenomenon of radioactivity and its reception in 20th century pop culture. Incredibly smooth delivery with some of the best executed Readymag gimmicks out there.

Winner

Simple geometric forms pair up with bright gradients, while large-size grotesque font is used for headlines, body copy, and even some incidental lettering: the Culturafest website shows right off that its organizers are trend savvy.

R/masters’ choice

SSSUMMER CLUB

You will see animated headlines moving in opposite directions, neon-green font, lush vegetation in the background, and your screen is separated into two parts—yet, the overall look preserves a certain visual integrity and harmony.

Another take on simple geometries, grotesque fonts and bright colors—this minimalist design looks fresh, clear and uncluttered.
