Uppercase
Only at first glance are the capitals tranquil. Looked at more closely, their energy is obvious. The contrast in verticals, the wedged vertical serifs and the rectangular counterparts bespeak the stormy nature concealed beneath the decorous surface.

Lowercase
Despite the vertical contrast and the unbracketed symmetrical rectangular serifs, the result is not a static typeface. The dynamics are maintained by the sharp angles at which shoulders meet stems, by the large apertures with outward-facing terminals (-a-, -c-, -e-), the massive, wedgelike serifs of the capitals and, to some extent, the ink traps (especially in the italic styles). The flat, rectangular, unbracketed serifs are surprising and add to the overall flair of the lowercase letters.
